SLICE - Health Inspired Food |
|
SLICE - Health Inspired Food is an in-depth resource of healthy recipes and nutritional information that helps you learn while you cook. With over 150 recipes this cookbook is invaluable whether you are just starting to integrate healthy habits into your kitchen or you are a seasoned health nut looking for new ideas.
This user-friendly cookbook begins with an overview on organics, genetically-modified foods and the benefits of whole foods and seasonal eating. It provides an extensive pantry list of not so everyday ingredients, tips on cooking with whole grains and legumes and photography to tantalize the taste buds. In addition, the cookbook provides ideas on how to use nutritional supplements in your food to maximize nutrient intake without swallowing an abundance of capsules or tablets. The recipes are primarily vegetarian with ideas on pairing quality meat and fish with the meal. Also individuals on allergy sensitive diets will find plenty of wheat and dairy-free dishes to choose from.
Our exploration of whole food and its impact on our health and well-being resulted in the creation of SLICE - Health Inspired Food. Whole foods focus on the basics - eating as close to nature as possible; choosing seasonally available produce; purchasing locally grown food; and avoiding processed foods. A major tenet of eating whole food is to prepare and consume foods that are in season and grown locally in order to eat fresh and nutritious.
In SLICE - Health Inspired Food we hope to demonstrate that whole food cooking is not difficult, nor is it something you only have time to do once or twice a month. It begins with a few new recipes and one or two additions to the standard shopping list. Before you realize it, whole food ingredients are a regular part of your cooking and you have developed a newfound energy in the kitchen. In a short time whole food cooking simply becomes a part of your lifestyle. We hope you enjoy the adventure.
Happy Cooking
